Members are eligible for prizes and awards at our annual banquet.
Eligibility for prizes are figured on a GEAR point system , on EPBMX races ONLY!
Novice, Intermediate , Expert , Cruiser and Girls use the same point system.
Remember this has nothing to do with your district points.
These points are for GEAR riders only and only for EPBMX races.
GEAR POINTS
1st -- 8 points
2nd -- 7 Points
3rd--6 Points
4th-- 5 points
5th --4 points
6th--3 points
7th--2 points
8th--1 points
Example you join on July 5th 2005 your points start from that date to the end of that season if you are past rider. Points will not be retroactive to beginning of season for old riders. NEW rider we will go back on points.
Best time to join GEAR is at the banquet or early in season.
But anytime is a good time to join GEAR and help the kids/ track.
In order for a G.E.A.R. racer to be eligible for the major prizes at the end of the year banquet, the G.E.A.R. rider is required to complete a minimum of 10 Emery Park races per race year.
What is GEAR??
This page is to try to help educate you on how our track operates.
We have a group called G.E.A.R.
(Group Effort Association for Riders).
Sanctioned by the ABA (American Bicycle Association), G.E.A.R. is made up of the parents/guardians and friends that operate the track and all of the jobs that go along with maintaining it. This is done on a volunteer basis only, none of the volunteers that you see out working at the track receive any pay, except for the knowledge of a job well done. The GEAR Board members also don't receive any pay. Membership to G.E.A.R. is $15.00 for first rider and $5.00 for each (immediate family) rider thereafter per year.
(the year is from banquet to banquet).
When you are a member of G.E.A.R., it gives the adults, voting rights on who our Board Members are, an opportunity to express your ideas and opinions concerning the races, facilities and revenues brought in by the track and how they should be spent. For example: facilities improvements, concessions, race awards etc... Throughout the year we will offer hats, shirts, etc. for sale you will get the products for a substantial discount.
GEAR MEETINGS
We have meetings in which we discuss the operations of our track.
We will notify members when we have GEAR Meetings.

We will have a drawing each meeting for all who come for a prize. Example, bike parts, gift certificates etc. So come and maybe win a prize.
( unless announced otherwise)If you want to make a difference this is the place to make it happen. The G. E. A. R .Board hopes to see you there.
If you want your voice to be heard where it counts, show up at the meeting and become a part of our team.
