You can get a copy in registration or download from our track website to hang on your fridge so that you don’t miss any events happening at EPBMX.I also have attached the April Newsletter/calendar.
All events are subject to the weather and also having enough volunteers. Always check track hotline or BMX News webpage, or join Yahoo mailing list to get email updates.
Regular Race
Races are on Fridays - Sign ups: 6:30 - 7:30 PM. Races will begin ASAP, usually around 8 PM, Cost $9.00 Trophy/ Stamps for 1st family member each additional family member only $7. Also race class and cruiser 1st bike $9 entry fee then second bike $7.
When you volunteer to keep the racing going at EPBMX you will receive $4.00 volunteer coupon. This can be used at gate drops or off any single point entry fees. NO cash value only good the 2009 race season.
Special Races
We will no longer run the Full Moon series at EPBMX in 2009
We will run Super Series on for more info visit this webpage @ http://emeryparkbmx.com/2009_super_series.html Anyone can race this series that is an ABA member. Super series race events are ABA single point events. Awards for 1st-3rd are trophies or stamps. Race fee is $9.00. Sign ups are from 6:30 - 7:30 PM. EPBMX will also issue a 1st-8th place sticker to all RIDERS WHO MAKE THE MAIN to put on their 9x12 Super Series Plaque. Cost of this race series picture plaque is $10.00 each.
These races will be run on ABA 2 moto transfer system.
Full
Moon Series
Was cancelled in 2009 only had 15 riders race every race in 2008.
Also due to lack of volunteers to score points. We will start a new Series called Super Series 2009 visit webpage for more info http://emeryparkbmx.com/2009_super_series.html
Renewing ABA Memberships & New ABA Memberships
It is VERY important that you renew your ABA membership at EPBMX. We get 5 points for reach renewal and 10 points for each new member. These points determine where the Kansas State final will be held. We are in contest with other Kansas tracks from June to June of each season. We offer a FREE single point race fee when renew or purchase your membership at EPBMX and credit points to EPBMX.
Rule
changes from
ABA
for the 2009 Race Season
http://www.ababmx.com/index.php?page=rulebook
#1: 2 new classes added for ABA National, State/Provincial Series and Redline Cup Series competiton: 8 & Under Cruiser and 41 & Over Men (Novice, Inter & Expert) these classes will not be offered at local races
#2:
In the Cruiser and Girl Cruiser divisions, a change in the way the motos are
built involving older cruiser riders moving down in age. No rider over 21
years of age will move down in age unless there is no other older class for
them to compete in (i.e: the older classes will NOT be "protected"). This
change comes in response to tracks explaining that grown men were ending up
racing kids they outweighed by 100 pounds or more. This change in the
moto-building process will keep adults racing against other adults.
#3: Perhaps the biggest change is with the 2009 Redline Cup Series.
The Redline Cup Series will now involve a rider counting his best score from
a Redline Cup Qualifier event, according to the Redline Cup/State/Provincial
Points table, and his/her scores from Saturday & Sunday at the Redline Cup
Final. In addition to awarding a Redline Cup jacket and the #1 plate to the
winner in each age & skill level, the ABA will award Redline Cup #2 & #3
plates beginning in 2009. Since the points are kept for each age & skill
level, it does not matter if your class makes at the Redline Cup Final event
- offering every rider a better chance at becoming a Redline Cup Champion!
For the local tracks, counting a rider's best score from a Redline Cup
Qualifier event could encourage them to participate in more than one RCQ
during the season. Finally, at the Finals, both Saturday and Sunday will
offer quadruple district points for riders.
Any questions need to talk to your tracks operators / board members. We will have rulebooks available when we open in the spring. You can also download from ABA website the official rulebook. New rules are in gray in the BMXer magazine Nov. / Dec. 08 issue page 77.Check out BMX news page at track website for updates on 2009 season at EPBMX.
G.E.A.R.
(Group Effort Association for Riders)
Sanctioned by the ABA (American Bicycle Association), G.E.A.R. is made up of the parents/guardians and friends that operate the track and all of the jobs that go along with maintaining it. This is done on a volunteer basis .Membership to G.E.A.R. is $15.00 for first rider, then $5.00 for each (immediate family) rider thereafter per year. When you are a member of G.E.A.R., it gives the adults, voting rights on who our board members are, an opportunity to express your ideas and opinions concerning the races, facilities and revenues brought in by the track and how they should be spent. For example: facilities improvements, concessions, race awards etc. Throughout the year we will offer hats, shirts, etc. for sale you will get the products for a substantial discount. Sometimes preferred parking at our large events. Also riders are eligible to be having points calculated for EPBMX races only. To be in the GEAR Top 10 Riders. This was set up for local riders to have chance to be in top 10 who can’t travel. All classes will receive same points to be fair to all riders. More is explained in the point’s area of GEAR handbook. Also other members/ riders will vote at the end of the season for their favorite riders on the 5-rider awards/ other GEAR members do this on a majority vote. This was started years ago so riders who can’t attend national and regional events can be eligible for awards for their accomplishments at their local track EPBMX.
We will have table to sign up for GEAR during our banquet on Saturday March 28th 2009 at the track. For more information visit us online @ http://www.emeryparkbmx.com/gear09.html . Best time to join Gear IS EARLY, POINTS START THE DAY YOU JOIN. If you are a new rider that season we will go back on your points when you join only.

Here is a link for more information on becoming a FoT http://www.emeryparkbmx.com/fot.htm
Emery Park BMX is operated by G. E .A .R. Inc. a Kansas non-profit corporation. G. E. A. R., Inc. relies entirely upon the generosity of its sponsors and entry fees to provide young people with the opportunity to participate in what is one of the greatest individual sports today, Bicycle Motocross Racing. Your generosity will help provide a racing facility, which is organized and operated so as to create a positive competitive experience designed to bolster a young persons self esteem and self confidence. G. E. A. R.’s “Friends of the Track” Sponsorship Program. This fundraising program, allows a sponsor the opportunity to support BMX racing at Emery Park BMX at an affordable level and at the same time gives the sponsor a valuable advertising opportunity at each ABA sanctioned race throughout the racing season. In exchange for your contribution of $300.00, G.E.A.R., Inc. will provide your company with a 3’x 2’ sign bearing your company’s name and/logo, (you provide the artwork) which will be displayed along with other "Friends Of The Track" sponsors at each ABA sanctioned event. During each racing event, the announcer will identify your company as a “Friend of the Track” over the public address system and will encourage all racers, family, friends and visitors to patronize your place of business. We will link to your company on the tracks website. Also will promote on Kansas BMX mailing list at Yahoo, has over 200 BMXers across Midwest. Click here to download concessions stand job description Click here to sign up online to help in concessions
In an effort to allow more individuals the opportunity to watch their kids race we have put together a sign-up sheet in hopes of getting folks to volunteer at least one Friday a month in the concession stand. When you fill in your name please include a phone number so in the event someone is unable to make it they can contact someone to trade with or get someone to take their place. .The concession stand is a great opportunity for the track to bring in a little extra cash (which we desperately need due to all the vandalism we have encountered) and it is something that the riders and spectators enjoy. So, please consider signing up to help one Friday a month. By committing to volunteer once a month you are allowing other individuals to do what we all enjoy doing and that is watching our kid’s race. Thanks to everyone for your help.
Sign up sheet is available in concessions stand or click here to view online schedule and sign up to help in concessions on a date of your choice :) Contact:
